Meet Your Hosts

Travelling and meeting new people has always played a big part in Erin and Dave’s lives.

They met more than 30 years ago while both were working on Moshavs in Israel.

After more travel, and working overseas, they moved to New Zealand to raise their family (Dave is from Central Otago and Erin from Australia), settling in the beautiful port town of Lyttelton, 20 minutes from Christchurch.

Erin and Dave spent many years holidaying on Banks Peninsula with family and friends. When they first stepped on to Big Sky they immediately knew they had found their own piece of paradise and it was something they wanted to share.

Erin and Dave’s daughter Lauren spent a few years overseas and completed a Permaculture Design Certificate Course at the Balkan Retreat in Serbia. Permaculture is the harmonious integration of people and environment, which in a sustainable way ensures the security of food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs.

We have incorporated these learnings into Big Sky to make it not only sustainable but comfortable too.
